Per Yahoo Movies:
LOS ANGELES - "Twilight" fans have a short wait for the next installment of the vampire saga.
Summit Entertainment spokesman Paul Pflug says " New Moon " is following just 12 months after the first movie, opening Nov. 20, 2009, over the same weekend as "Twilight" this year.
Summit has tapped Chris Weitz (" The Golden Compass ") to direct "New Moon," based on the second book in Stephenie Meyer 's best-selling series about the dangerous romance between a teen ( Kristen Stewart ) and a vampire ( Robert Pattinson ) fighting his bloodsucking instincts.
Weitz is taking over the franchise from "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke . "Twilight" has shot to $150 million at the box office since debuting Nov. 21.
New Moon is my favorite book in the Twilight saga, so I am even MORE excited to see this than I was to see Twilight...if that's even possible!!!! My expectations are quite high to say the least. I love that it's not even a year away!

i am excited too. i hope they don't rush it too much though. i'd be willing to wait for the best movie possible:)
1I am very excited as well as my daughter. She is obsessed!! Too romantic.
2I think it will be interesting to see what the new director does with the movie. I don't think it is such a good idea to rush the filming because it will show on the screen. My biggest concern is how they plan to convey the time that Edward was missing in just a few short hours. Can't wait until it comes out though.
3I agree that they shouldn't rush it either...it needs to be perfect. And Kazagirl, I am wondering how they'll convey that, as well. Should be interesting!
4I don't want them to rush it and then the movie is completely trash but I also don't want to wait! But did you guys here that they are considering replcaing Taylor Lautner with Ben Barnes??? I'm more concerned about this than anything else! I don't feel like Taylor was the best Jacob but Prince Caspian would not be an improvement.
5i think ben barnes is being considered for aro and michael capon is being considered for jacob
6I didn't care for Taylor either... and he wasn't in Twilight enough to really notice the switch, imo. I know we will notice but it isn't like you were invested in the character through the movie.
I also don't want it rushed but like DecemberBaby said, I don't want to wait either.
New Moon was my least favorite of the four books so I am excited for the series to continue.
7Oh I'm sooooo happy now!
8I wasn't that interested in New Moon because I had to wait so long before Edward came back!
9Robert Pattinson won't have to work as much on this film as Twilight that's for sure.
So yeah
looking at the length of the novel that is about Bella and Jacob I think it is a great idea to replace Taylor Lautner. I just don't think he had the acting chops to handle that big of a role
and screen time. Not to mention his physical appearance.
10I don't know how I feel about them replacing Taylor...
And I absolutely love New Moon...it was so sad, but Edward and Bella's reunion in Italy was amazing.
11i think it will be executed to its greatest potential under this new leadership & am sooo excited to see how it turns out....emalove i agree.. the reunion was incredible and am so stoked to see it translated onto screen!
12I look forward to the introduction of Aro and Jane in the film series; also Jacob's role finally arrives. I'm also excited to see the scene when Bella arrives in Italy and has to prevent Edward from putting his plan in motion.
13I am very excited for New Moon.
I wonder who they will get to play Jane?
14EEEEPPPP!!! I can't wait!!!=) I agree with you guys though, I want them to make the best movie possible. I don't know if I can wait 10 months....
